Where to Stay in Columbus

The rates of other cities pale in comparison when it comes to Columbus’ range of reasonably priced accommodations. Columbus offers a number of choices for convenient mid-range lodging options. The rates in downtown are affordable enough, but tourists will have more savings by staying in the locales of Brewery District and German Village. For example, German Village Inn has one of the best deals going. The family-run motel has excellent location and value. The Westin Great Southern has surprisingly moderate rates for a grand downtown Victorian hotel. The Red Roof Inn is an above average motel chain that offers comfortable spaces. For more budget options, head to Interstate 270. The Westerville Inn Bed and Breakfast offers guests homey rooms housed in a cottage dating back to 1854.

Exploring Columbus

If you’re on a budget, there are places for sightseeing without a fee and districts that offer fun and entertainment for a minimal fee. A good place to start would be the Ohio Statehouse, which offers walking tours for free. You’ll get to see an awesome Greek Revival structure, one of the very few that has no dome. From the statehouse several highlights follow. For an average of 8 to 12 dollars tourists can explore the structures of COSI and the Colubus Museum of Art. Restaurants and nightspots are abundant in the Arena District. For a low budget, head to the German Village and Brewery District. There are old-style restaurants and corner bars that won a place in the National Register of historic Places. May of the brewpubs offer discounted goods. The university campus along High street sprouts some affordably shopping and cheap eating places. There are several bottom-dollar snack bars to choose from, such as Marcella’s moderately priced pizzas, Schmidt’s range of sausages, and fine microbrews of Surly Girl Saloon.
