The town of Negril is known for its 7 long miles of 40-degree cliffs and another 7 miles of pristine white sand beaches. It has been considered as one of the most beautiful towns in the whole of Jamaica and a top tourist destination compared to neighboring Ocho Rios and Montego Bay.


The name of the beautiful town is a shortened version of what the Spaniards in 1494 had called it, which was “Negrillo”. Many believed that the name came about because of the black cliffs that stood at the southern end of the town. 


Getting into town can be done by flying to the international airport anchored in Montego Bay. An hour’s drive will bring tourists to the beautiful beaches of the town. 


There are a lot to see in Negril. It does not only offer outstanding beaches, but also a plethora of attractions including the tourist crafts market placed at the tip of the town. One of the best ways to explore such attractions is to rent out route taxis, which charge far lesser than normal ones.
